Diveristy is important to me
I am a neuro-affirming therapist celebrating different minds, identities, and ways of being in the world.
I bring a genuine curious, and open starting point and I’m committed to listening carefully to your lived experience. I welcome working with people across differences of identity, culture, and background, and I will always meet you with respect, humility, and care. I am committed to taking your experiences seriously and understanding you on your own terms, not through assumptions. This includes being open to the role that spirituality, faith, or personal beliefs may play in your life, whether that’s something central, evolving, or not part of your world at all.
It’s part of being a human to sometimes feel overwhelmed by the things that unsettle us. It takes courage to work at understanding ourselves at a deeper level but the results are so rewarding.
Your past experiences affect the person you have become and by working together we can discover why patterns of behaviour exist and introduce new patterns for the future, helping you to live a happier and more peaceful life. It’s all about empowering you with a tool kit and resources to support you.
Think of me as a life companion. A consistent and reliable safe space. I am a firm believer in leading with an empathetic, nonjudgmental approach. As a strengths-based, relational therapist (someone who wants to emphasise all the amazing things that make you "you"), I aspire to guide you toward self-compassion and empowerment in your individual goals.
My key expertise is working with the adaptations that come from having had challenging experiences, for example, anxiety, relational safety, stuckness, inner sadness, struggles with conflict, people pleasing, avoidance, feelings of worthlessness, overwhelm, self criticism, feeling lost, struggling to find your true self, grief, regrets, resilience, and tolerance.
I value being honest, open, and most of all human, and I would encourage you to be the same. In my experience, it is fundamentally important to work collaboratively and to tailor therapy to the individual. Therapy can be a transformative experience, with the potential to have a profound impact on one’s life.
I also offer practical exercises as well as talking therapy itself. These exercises can help to improve your own toolkit for managing difficulties.
I have faced my own challenges in life, and successful therapy has helped me both in times of crisis and on an on-going basis for personal development. Although most people seek a therapist in times of difficulty, I believe that in an ideal world everyone would have access to therapy not just in times of crisis but to assist through life’s journey, the ups and the downs. This is because there is so much learning available and a lot to be gained from having a safe, supportive, trustworthy and judgement-free space that you can rely on.
My own experience of committing to ongoing therapy regardless of my situation has been life-transforming. It has positively affected my relationships with others, my relationship with myself, my prosperity and my personal achievements. Sometimes we can do our most important self development work when we are in a more settled place and are able to reflect outside of the eye of the storm. My intention is to provide you a safe ship within our relationship where you won’t feel judged and can finally share yourself fully.
You’ll find me to be warm, curious, caring and as determined as you are to release your suffering and create positive change. I aim to create a space where you feel respected, heard, and able to show up as yourself.
