Social Media and FOMO
Social media is brilliant at many things, but staying calm and grounded is not one of them. It behaves a bit like a craving engine, constantly nudging you to want something different from what you already have, something more or something better. New body, new wardrobe, new job, new personality, new life. Whatever you have, the craving engine whispers, βYes, fine, but imagine if you had this instead.β
The trouble is that this keeps you in a permanent loop of almost satisfied but not quite. You get the thing you thought you needed, feel good for all of seven minutes, and then the craving engine revs up again, pointing at the next shiny possibility. No wonder so many people feel restless, inadequate or unsure of who they actually are beneath all the comparisons.
In therapy, we explore desire with curiosity rather than shame. We look at what gets stirred up for you when you feel you are missing out, what old insecurities are activated, and what unmet needs are quietly asking for attention. Together we practise grounding back into your real life, your real strengths and your real values.
πΌ Peace often grows when we stop wanting everything and start noticing what is already here.
