Therapy V ai ‘The Power of Being Seen’

Why Real Therapy beats the Algorithm

I’ll admit it, ai can do some clever things. It can answer questions, summarise books, even remind you to breathe (though slightly ironic coming from a machine that doesn’t). But when it comes to therapy, real, human therapy, there’s something irreplaceable about being seen.

Being seen isn’t about someone nodding while you talk or offering perfectly worded advice. It’s about another human sitting across from you, sensing the tremor in your voice, the hesitation in your smile, the moment your eyes well up even though you’re saying, “I’m fine.” It’s about connection, the kind that happens between two nervous systems, not two processors.

In therapy, we co-regulate, reflect, and sometimes even laugh at the beautiful mess of being human. There’s warmth, nuance, empathy, and the subtle art of sitting with silence (something ai hasn’t quite mastered yet).

Of course, you can use ai to learn about emotions or understand patterns, but the healing happens in relationship. When someone sees you, really sees you, and stays, that’s where the shift begins.

🌱 Because what heals us isn’t information; it’s connection.
