Can you roll with it?
Picture this: the train’s pulling in, you’re legging it down the escalator, bag flapping, heart thumping and just as you reach the door… it closes. Right. In. Your. Face. You mouth a silent (or not-so-silent) “Nooooo!” We’ve all been there. It’s that little sting when life doesn’t quite cooperate, missing the train, laptop dying mid-zoom, friend cancelling plans, or the classic “forgot-my-lunch-box” scenario.
These tiny frustrations seem trivial, but how we handle them says a lot about our emotional wiring. Do you tense up, get snappy, spiral into self-criticism? Or can you pause, breathe, and maybe even laugh (eventually)?
In therapy, we often explore these micro-moments because they reveal deeper pattern, like how your past experiences and beliefs shape the way you cope with life’s banana skins 🍌. Together, we look at what triggers that “grrr” response and how to build a little more flexibility, acceptance, and kindness toward yourself.
Sometimes life flows smoothly, sometimes it throws a spanner (or a banana) in the works. Learning to roll with it doesn’t mean giving up, it means trusting that you can handle what comes.
🌼 Because sometimes the missed train leads to the right destination.
