Resilience is ..
Seven weeks into lockdown, I remember feeling both astonished and moved by how quickly we humans adapted. New routines, new “normals,” and, somehow, a surprising amount of acceptance. It reminded me that resilience isn’t about never wobbling; it’s about wobbling and still finding your balance again.
Resilience is that quiet strength that gets you through the day when your motivation’s gone AWOL. It’s the part of you that says, “Alright, this isn’t ideal… but let’s figure it out.” It’s in the small things too: making a cuppa when you’d rather pull the duvet over your head, or showing up for a zoom meeting in pyjama bottoms (no judgment here).
As the quote goes, “So far, you’ve survived 100% of your worst days. You’re doing great.” And you really are.
In therapy, we often look at where your resilience comes from, the experiences that shaped it, and the times it might have been stretched thin. Together, we work on strengthening it from the inside out: through self-compassion, boundaries, and a gentler relationship with yourself. This helps you to see and feel your power and celebrate your wins.
Resilience isn’t about being unbreakable, it’s about knowing you can mend.
🌼 You’ve done it before. You’ll do it again. And you’re doing great.
