Rewriting the Script: Because You’re Not That 8 Year Old Anymore

Our internal beliefs, the quiet, automatic thoughts we carry about ourselves, others, and the world, shape far more than we realise. They influence our moods, decisions, relationships, and even how we handle life’s hiccups (yes, even the “someone-stole-my-parking-space” kind).

These beliefs often form early in life. Maybe you learned that love had to be earned, or that mistakes weren’t safe to make. Over time, those lessons can harden into statements like “I’m not good enough” or “People always leave.” The tricky part? We don’t always know these beliefs are running the show, they’re like background apps quietly draining emotional battery life.

In therapy, we bring these beliefs into awareness, gently and without judgment. Together, we explore where they came from, how they protect you, and whether they’re still serving you today. The goal isn’t to banish them, but to update them to create kinder, truer versions that support your wellbeing.

Sometimes the biggest shifts start with the smallest questions: “What if this belief isn’t the truth, just an old story I’ve been carrying?” and “What if this story wasn’t even mine?”.

🌼 Awareness is the first step toward rewriting the script, and you’re the author now.
