Healing from Complex Trauma: It’s Not About “Getting Over It”

Complex Trauma (CPTSD) often develops after long-term or repeated trauma, the kind you couldn’t simply “escape.” It’s not just about what happened, but about what kept happening: environments where safety, love, or predictability were in short supply. Over time, the body and mind adapt to survive, but those old survival strategies can linger long after the danger has passed.

Maybe you live on high alert, always scanning for threat. Maybe you struggle to trust, or feel undeserving of love. Maybe your inner critic runs the show (and could frankly use a holiday). These aren’t flaws, they’re protective patterns that once kept you safe.

In therapy, we work gently to teach your nervous system that the present is safe. We explore your story without rushing, building tools to regulate emotions, reconnect with your body, and reclaim your sense of self. It’s less about “fixing” you, more about helping you remember that you were never broken.

Healing takes time, patience, and compassion, but it’s entirely possible. Step by step, you can move from surviving to living.

🌼 You’ve already done the hardest part, you made it through.
